Special Penelope Bourbon Tasting This Weekend

I am not some all-knowing eternal bourbon being, but I will take credit for being one of the first folks in the area to fall in love with Blue Run Spirits. I’m happy to see so many other folks take my advice and find out for themselves how truly special their products are (nothing beats their High Rye). While I am not the first to discover Penelope (I know for a fact Eddie Thomas has been high on them) I’m content that I’m not the last either. To me, Penelope is the next Blue Run (next big thing that came out of nowhere).

For those of you who have never heard of it, they were just recently released in South Carolina and boy oh boy do they deserve the same cult following that Blue Run has gotten. The quality is unbelievable— couple that with some truly inspired rare releases, and you have enough to keep any bourbon enthusiast thrilled.

If you have have never heard of Penelope, seen the bottles and haven’t sampled them, OR even tried just their base models, we’ve got a treat for you! This Friday and Saturday, J&F Bar Supplies in West Columbia will be hosting a free Penelope Bourbon tasting to celebrate the upcoming kickoff. And while free bourbon is enough to make anyone want to show up, the fact that they will be offering some of their impossible to find allocated products is more than enough reason to be sure you make your way to J&F Friday or Saturday (or both).

The tasting times will be held Friday 3:30-6:30 and Saturday 12:00-3:30. If you are planning to join us for the GBS Happy Hour event at Hall’s (4pm to 6pm on Friday) you still have time to stop in before or after the event, and of course, you’ll have all morning to stop in prior to tailgating Saturday. I will personally be there Saturday, so come in and see me!
